After Hours is finally out!
Hooray—my first book with Penguin / Intermix, After Hours, is out now! It's a full-length, standalone erotic romance set in and around a psychiatric hospital in the heart of Michigan's industrial decline—think gritty realism, not lavish escapism. I suspect that folks who enjoyed the rough sex and straight-talking hero from Willing Victim might enjoy this one. Check out an excerpt if you're intrigued, or go to my Books page for the blurb, reviews, and buy links. You can also find inside info on the book on the USA Today HEA blog, Heroes & Heartbreakers, the Badass Book Reviews blog, and Wonkomance.
New York Times bestselling author Beth Kery called After Hours "The sweet, smoking hot, standout erotic romance you’ve been craving." USA Today bestseller Victoria Dahl says, "Cara McKenna is my go-to author for gritty, hot love stories full of honest emotion." And NYT bestseller Ava Gray (aka Ann Aguirre) says, "After Hours is incredibly hot. Cara McKenna brings the steam."Thank You for Riding available now
Thank You For Riding (under my Meg Maguire name) is one story in a five-book series called Strangers on a Train, now out from from Samhain! My wonderful co-authors for the project are Ruthie Knox, Samantha Hunter, Serena Bell, and Donna Cummings. Each of us chose a different kind of train for our characters to fall in love on, and I picked the subway. If you've ever ridden Boston's T, you'll appreciate what a deeply sensual and romantic setting it is. The books are available now as digital novellas, with a print anthology to follow in February of next year. You can find details about my story on my Books page. For the best price, order direct from Samhain!
Making Him Sweat is out now
My evil conjoined romance twin Meg's March Blaze, Making Him Sweat, is available now! It’s set in Boston, in a disreputable boxing and mixed martial arts gym in Chinatown, as are the books that’ll follow in the series (Taking Him Down, an August Blaze, and Driving Her Wild, November). I love writing struggling, working-class heroes, and fighters in particular, so these have been great fun for me.
In Making Him Sweat, the heroine, Jenna, has just inherited her estranged father’s shady, unprofitable boxing gym, and arrives in Boston with plans to open an upscale, old-school matchmaking franchise in the same building. She butts heads (and other more exciting body parts) with the gym’s general manager, Mercer, a former amateur boxer turned trainer, who’s determined to convince her to give the gym a chance to bounce back, before she has to put it out of its fiscal misery. Pragmatic townie commitmentphobe meets West-Coast incurable romantic. Romantic Times gave it their highest rating, ★★★★½. You can check out the blurb, and find links to order, on my Books page! You can also add the book or the series on Goodreads.
The final Curio Vignette is now available
Exposure is out! This is the fifth—and final—installment in the Curio Vignettes, a series erotic novelettes, follow-ups to my popular 2011 book Curio—a new story every month from late August through late December. The books are, (in order of release) Curio, Coercion, Craving, Reversal, Confession, and Exposure. Each documents a new stage (and often a new kink) in Didier and Caroly's odd, budding romance. You can head to my Books page for buying options, or check out details for the entire series on Goodreads!
